Daytona Beach
 isn’t all about the beach and water sports. Museums in the city range from historic mansions to marine and scientific centers. While the ocean plays an integral part of the heritage of the area, it’s also a rich arts and cultural community that includes many fascinating historic sites and museums. Two National Historic Landmarks are located in the Daytona Beach region; the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse and the Mary McLeod Bethune Foundation Home.
 World-class museums, as well as a number of annual cultural events are also found in Daytona Beach, including the nationally-recognized Museum of Arts and Sciences. This venue is actually a collection of museums and galleries, which includes a planetarium, the Cuban Museum, the Bouchelle Center for Decorative Arts and the Root Family Museums, featuring one of the largest Coca-Cola collections in the world. It’s the area’s largest museum and is nationally accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and is a Smithsonian Institute Affiliate. The Museum of Arts and Science alone can keep you busy all day long, and even the kids will enjoy the children’s science center, which opened in 2008. So, if you happen to find yourself in the area on one of the rare occasions when the weather isn’t suitable for outdoor activities, don’t despair.
